Project Self-Sufficiency offers a variety of free legal advice, education and assistance programs for residents of Sussex County, New Jersey, and the surrounding area. Interested participants are encouraged to call 973-940-3500 for more information.

Free Legal Seminars

Free informational seminars are scheduled frequently at Project Self-Sufficiency.

Free Legal Consultations & Advice

Income eligible Sussex County residents are invited to meet privately with an attorney to discuss their legal concerns. The free 45-minute consultations are scheduled every Thursday at Project Self-Sufficiency.

Do-it-Yourself Legal Clinics

Area residents are welcome to receive assistance with the completion of the paperwork required for filing motions regarding child support, visitation and custody. Volunteer attorneys from the Sussex Bar Association will review paperwork and offer guidance and support; legal representation is not provided. The Do-it-Yourself Clinics are available by appointment to income eligible residents of Sussex County, New Jersey. Interested residents are invited to call 973-940-3500 for more information.

Court Accompaniment Program

Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County will provide a supportive professional to accompany individuals to court for issues related to Family Law and other concerns. Legal representation is not provided.

Free Pro Se Divorce Workshops

Individuals seeking an uncontested divorce can receive free guidance and assistance from an attorney at the Pro Se Divorce Workshops offered by Project Self-Sufficiency of Sussex County. Divorces cannot involve property, support or custody issues. Participants complete the necessary paperwork with the help of an attorney affiliated with the Sussex County Bar Association. The attorney will offer guidance about the divorce process; however legal representation is not provided. Pro Se Divorce Workshops take place over 4 - 5 sessions, and are scheduled on an as-needed basis. The workshops are open to the public, but participants must meet income eligibility requirements. A $50 fee will be refunded at the completion of the process.

Free Legal Advice, Education and Assistance Programs are available to residents in the following NJ areas including the Sussex County municipalities of Newton, Andover Borough, Andover Township, Branchville Borough, Byram Township, Frankford Township, Franklin Borough, Fredon Township, Green Township, Hamburg Borough, Hampton Township, Hardyston Township, Hopatcong Borough, Lafayette Township, Montague Township, Ogdensburg Borough, Sandyston Township, Sparta Township, Stanhope Borough, Stillwater Township, Sussex Borough, Vernon Township, Walpack Township, and Wantage Township; and the Morris County municipalities of Jefferson Township, Lake Hopatcong, Netcong Borough, and Oak Ridge; and the Warren County municipalities of Allamuchy Township, Blairstown Township, Frelinghuysen Township, Hardwick Township and Hope Township, New Jersey (NJ).
